Professional Development 

Destinations International is passionate about advancing the destination marketing professional, and is investing resources into new and innovative educational content, to empower our members so their destinations excel.

  • PDM – In partnership with George Washington University, earn a Professional in Destination Management (PDM) certificate by completing 40 educational credit hours at any stage of your destination marketing career.
  • CDME - Advance your career as a senior-level destination professional by obtaining your Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) designation, recognized by the industry as the highest educational achievement.

Education & Events

Every employee of a member destination organization is welcome to join Destinations International as an individual member, at no additional cost to the individual or the organization, giving them full access to our programs and events. From beginner level to advanced professional, Destinations International offers options and solutions.

  • Annual Convention – This annual event brings together over 1,500 dedicated professionals for three days of education, networking and sharing of best practices and thought leadership.
  • Discipline Focused Summits – From CEO-level institutes to discipline-specific summits, your organization can tap into the connections, knowledge and resources you need to accelerate and advance your mission and vision.
  • 30 Under 30 Program – Through the Destinations International Foundation, we focus on recognizing young and talented professionals to foster opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders to learn, network and grow within the industry.
  • Apprenticeship Program – Through the support of the Destinations International Foundation, the goal of this 600-hour program is to help create a culturally progressive and socially reflective tourism industry by exposing talented individuals to the vast scope of career opportunities available in the destination marketing industry.
