Todd O’Leary is a 25-year veteran of the travel and tourism industry. He started his career in 1998 at VISIT Milwaukee, where he worked his way up from an unpaid PR intern to Director of Marketing. After thirteen years at VISIT Milwaukee, he moved to California where he served as the VP of Global Partnerships and Strategic Alliances for San Francisco Travel. In 2018, Todd became the VP of Marketing and Communications at Sonoma County Tourism, where he oversees all marketing, digital, creative, and public relations activities.
Todd is actively involved in the tourism industry. In addition to his Foundation board role at Destinations International, he proudly serves on the Professional Development Committee, as well as the Membership Committee for DI. Todd also serves on the Brand and Content Committee for Visit California; the Cannabis Tourism Task Force at CalTravel; and the Marketing Council at San Francisco Travel. He has earned two industry certifications - the Certified Travel Industry Specialist (CTIS) from the American Bus Association; and the highest DMO certification - the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) from Destinations International.
In 2023, Todd was recognized as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in the industry by Hospitality, Sales & Marketing Association International. His work has been recognized by U.S. Travel; Hospitality, Sales & Marketing Association International; American Advertising Federation; Public Relations Society of America; and the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
Todd graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Planning and Marketing. He and his husband live in Santa Rosa, CA. They enjoy traveling the world, experiencing destinations through the local food and craft beverage scene.
