Domenic Bravo’s passion for the tourism industry and visitor engagement has been consistent throughout his nontraditional career path to his current position as the CEO of Visit Cheyenne. Domenic had a successful 20+ year career working in state park systems across the West, including 11 years as the state park administrator for Wyoming State Parks. He also spent a semester working as a professor at the University of Wyoming in the new Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management degree program, which he helped create. He has leveraged his zeal for creating possibilities and experiences with his seasoned insight for promoting tourism to attract visitors from all backgrounds to enjoy an area of Wyoming that he loves and is fortunate enough to call home.
Domenic’s career started as a law enforcement ranger with Nevada State Parks with certifications as both an EMT and wildland firefighter. After becoming a park supervisor, he obtained his M.S. in Park and Resource Management and Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation. Upon moving to Wyoming in 2008, he was asked to help establish Wyoming’s CPM program. During his tenure as the Wyoming State Park Administrator, he helped start new initiatives, events, and programming that helped increase visitation and revenue to the park systems. He was also the lead in developing new DEI processes and training within the division. Domenic was asked by Governor Mead to lead an Outdoor Recreation Task Force that fostered the creation of the first Outdoor Recreation Office in Wyoming. Domenic served on boards for multiple associations during his career with parks, including serving as the President of the National Association of State Park Directors in 2016 and 2017.
Domenic’s career and personal experiences have helped sculpt his unique and thoughtful approach to running a world-recognized destination. Shortly after joining Visit Cheyenne, Domenic became a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME). Working with a great team, Bravo created events that have continued to grow and add great economic value to the community. One of the events, the Hell on Wheels Rodeo series, was created when Cheyenne Frontier Days had to cancel in 2020. It has had record-breaking sales and support year after year, enhancing the already strong Western experiences Cheyenne provides.
Bravo currently serves:
Vice Chairman of the Wyoming Hospitality and Travel Coalition
Board of Destination Management Association of the West
Advisory Committee for the UW Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management Program and WORTH initiative.
Advisory Committee for the LCCC Wyoming CPM program
Board of FCCLA
Destination International Advocacy Committee and Suitability Task Force
When Domenic isn’t promoting tourism in Laramie County or enjoying one of the many Visit Cheyenne sponsored events or activities, you will likely find him outdoors, traveling, or simply enjoying life with his wife and two children.
