Hall of Fame and Destination Organization Leadership Award Nominations Now Open
Washington, D.C. (February 28, 2019) – Destinations International announces that Hall of Fame and Destination Organization Leadership Award nominations are now open.
“We encourage our leaders to nominate or self-nominate pioneers in our industry who continue to push the envelop to ensure the future success of their organization and destination organizations worldwide,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “Nominations are open until April 5, 2019 and we look forward to honoring each awardee at our Annual Convention July 23-25, 2019 in St. Louis, MO.”
The Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame, started in 2014 during Destinations International’s 100th Anniversary, was created to recognize individuals who have changed the future of destination marketing for the better, made significant contributions to the advancement of the industry and shaped travel marketing. It is the highest honor that Destinations International can bestow. Our goal is to shine a spotlight on these pioneers, champions and influencers, and allow our members around the globe an opportunity to get to know them and their work. Furthermore, the inductees as a group provide a historical narrative and represent the leaders who throughout the years have grown and nurtured the destination organization industry to present day.
The selection process is based on how each inductee shaped or influenced the destination marketing industry, created positive change, and how their contributions created long lasting impact on travel marketing today. Click here for the Hall of Fame nomination form.
Destination Organization Leadership Award
The Destination Organization Leadership Award was created in 2017 and is amongst the association's most prestigious honors, recognizing those outstanding individuals who, through their exceptional work and achievements, have made a significant contribution to the destination marketing industry and a profound difference in the communities they serve. Any destination organization leader who has demonstrated a significant and long-term contribution to the destination marketing industry may be nominated. Specifically, one whom has provided leadership, innovation and credibility among their colleagues and has developed a reputation for excellence through the management of their organization and the use of best practices, cutting-edge technology and strategy. This award is limited to people currently working in a destination organization but is not limited to Chief Executive Officers. Any person in a leadership role in a destination organization is eligible. Click here for the Destination Organization Leadership Award nomination form.
The nomination form declaring nominees for the 2019 Hall of Fame and/or 2019 Destination Organization Leadership Award must be submitted by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Friday April 5, 2019 to Chelsea Welter at [email protected].
