WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 14, 2020) – Destinations International today announced that Gabriel Seder has joined the organization as the Senior Director of Advocacy Policy and Program Development. This is a new position with Destinations International and Seder’s first day with the organization was January 13, 2020.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gabriel to the Destinations International Foundation team,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous tourism background and will be an asset to our team and destinations worldwide.”

Gabriel is a tourism marketing and destination development professional with more than 10 years of experience consulting for emerging and established destinations and tourism businesses around the world. He has supported city, regional, and national destination organizations to create and implement tourism strategies and master plans, develop and roll out national tourism brands, and implement international multi-channel marketing campaigns. He has worked in more than 15 countries and destinations across the United States.

“I’m excited to join the team at Destinations International and the Destinations International Foundation,” said Seder. “The organization’s compelling research and thought leadership helps destination organizations achieve alignment with the communities they serve. In a time when destination organizations are increasingly finding themselves under attack, it has never been more important for Destinations International to provide leadership to destination organizations to become more effective advocates for their own important work.”

In his new role, Seder will be a part of the Destinations International Foundation team and responsible for program development and major public policy areas including destination management, sustainability and strategic planning and destination organization creation. He will also work on issues facing destinations worldwide including homelessness, affordable housing, economic development, diversity, equity and inclusion and ways for destination organizations to become more effective stewards of the communities they serve. Seder will also oversee the management of the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP), the globally recognized program that defines quality and performance standards in destination management.

He has supported international tourism development projects funded by USAID, the National Park Service, the World Bank, and Inter-American Development Bank, and implemented tourism marketing campaigns for clients that include National Geographic, UNESCO, Smithsonian and the World Wildlife Fund.

Seder is a graduate of George Washington University and has a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and History.
