My destination consulting work often emphasizes social inclusion stewardship. Due to the stigma, fear, and detractors that regularly exist for cannabis, cannabis tourism is inherently an exercise of advocating for inclusion and integration. My work with Visit Oakland, 'This 420 Choose Equity' -featuring equity-owned businesses along the Oakland Cannabis Trail for the 420 cultural cannabis holiday was recognized by the US Travel ESTO Awards. Also, an LGBTQ+ campaign for pride month traveling The Cannabis Trail of California, a first-of-its-kind coop that three DMO's participated in. I'd be honored to be selected for the small business program and continue serving as a SME resource for cannabis tourism education for DI members. It is a dynamic space that continues to evolve.
