Sarah Leonard
Sarah Leonard has spent more than two decades advancing tourism policy, championing destination stewardship, and promoting meaningful visitor experiences in Alaska and western states, including Arizona and Colorado.
Sarah served as President & CEO of the Alaska Travel Industry Association for ten years, where she led the state's premier tourism industry organization, and managed the state’s destination marketing program, representing businesses and communities across Alaska’s travel and tourism sector. She played a key role in advocating for destination marketing funding, responsible tourism policies, and destination stewardship, including serving as a founding member of Adventure Green Alaska - the state's only tourism certification program for sustainability.
Today, Sarah leads Visit Estes Park in Northern Colorado. She is passionate about community-based tourism, the intersection of sustainable tourism, economic development, and quality of life, and ensuring the benefits of the visitor economy support local businesses and communities.
Sarah holds a Master of Science in Recreation and Tourism Management from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with an emphasis in public relations.
