CVB and Convention Center Collaboration

In 2017, our respective associations came together and formed the City Pairs Task Force, comprised of both convention center and destination organization leadership. The task force’s mission was to address the inconsistencies in economic impact reporting and develop collaborative practices so we could foster the ability within our industry to deliver one powerful message.

Developing Effective Tools

The work of the task force culminated in two deliverables: the first being the creation of the Local and Public Events Module to the existing Destinations International Event Impact Calculator. This module brings consistent methodology for all convention center events. Secondly, the task force recognized the fundamental need to share with our respective communities how convention centers and CVBs are successfully collaborating through several practices today.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to share this collection of their practices with you. We hope their work provides inspiration for the leadership of our respective members to sit down together and brainstorm about how they can collectively elevate their own relationship and deliver the powerful message of the economic impact events have on their local economies.

How much are events worth to your destination?

Destinations International, International Association of Venue Managers and Tourism Economics have partnered to produce the Local & Public Events Module for the Event Impact Calculator, providing destinations with the tools they need to assess all types of events occurring at a stand-alone facility.
