Anaheim, Calif. (July 11, 2018) – Destinations International Chair Tammy Blount-Canavan, FCDME and President and CEO of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau and President and CEO Don Welsh today announced a partnership with the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).
The partnership will launch in the fall of 2018 and will offer a new Local and Public Events Module of the Destinations International Event Impact Calculator (EIC), which will enable destination organizations and convention centers to share economic data for meetings and events that take place in the city.
The partnership began by creating a City Pairs Task Force that brought together eight cities to establish best practices for sharing and reporting data between destination organizations and convention centers.
“Both Destinations International and IAVM share the vision that a destination should be able to share economic data between the destination organization and convention center, in order to publish the most accurate and complete data possible for an event,” said Blount-Canavan.”
“Destinations International is pleased to take this bold step for our industry in partnership with IAVM,” said Welsh. “The expansion of EIC access is part of our overall strategy of further establishing standardized reporting on the impact of meetings and events for our industry. Destinations International will continue to look at ways to move our industry forward as data reporting is critical for continued success.”
“IAVM is excited to partner with Destinations International in creating an expanded economic impact calculator our convention center executives desire,” said Brad Mayne, President and CEO of IAVM. “Coordinating economic impact reports with destination marketing organizations not only unifies stakeholder data, it becomes a platform for greater coordinated efforts in bringing additional business to their communities. Thank you to the members of the task force in working together in bringing this game changing tool to our collective association members.”
