Staff: Chelsea Welter Title
Chelsea Welter is the organization's Vice President of Governance & Administration and is directly responsible for managing and supporting all administration for the organization and directly supports the President & CEO and Chief Advocacy Officer in an executive assistant capacity. Welter also manages all board governance and supervision for the Destinations International Association Board of Directors, The Destinations International Foundations Board of Trustees, and their respective committees and task forces.
Welter joined Destinations International (DMAI) in 2016, and prior to, served as Executive Assistant to Don Welsh at Choose Chicago. Welter also had a previous career in commercial property management working for a large international real estate management company in both Chicago and New York City, and most recently served as the Assistant Property Manager at a Chicago high rise commercial property on Michigan Avenue for a regional real estate management firm.
Welter is a Michigan native who spent 10 years moving between Chicago and the East Coast before settling back in the Detroit Metro area in 2019. She is a graduate of Michigan State University with a BA in history and Florida State University with an MA in American Dance Studies.

Favorite Travel Destination: My favorite travel destination is probably a tie. One, I've spent nearly every single summer of my life in the small town of Orillia, Ontario with my grandparents. My family has deep history in that part of Canada, and it's always been a special place. Plus, there's nothing better than spending your summers in a cottage on a lake! Second favorite destination is Santorini, Greece. The island is beautiful, the water is breathtaking, and the people, food and culture are full of life. Also, the sunsets literally make you feel like you are sitting on the edge of the earth, watching the day completely fade away into the most gorgeous colors.
Travel Bucket List: There are many, many places I would love to venture to, so it's difficult to choose just one. Really interested in visiting Prince Edward Island, and would love the opportunity to do a Nordic trip, and then make a stop in Iceland on the way home.
Favorite Thing About the Industry: The people! I know that we are in the tourism industry, and it's our job to essentially host, but I've never met a group of more caring, passionate, and kind people. And a group of people that are always willing to share and support each other when needed.
