Greetings and happy Friday. Today, I have the opportunity to share several announcements about changes to our team at Destinations International. We are excited to announce that Melissa Cherry has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer, effective October 3, 2018. Needless to say, Melissa has been an integral part of our leadership team as our Chief Marketing Officer. She has been responsible for the development and execution of the overall marketing and communications strategy to promote the association’s mission, elevate the brand, and drive awareness of its impact to advance the success of the destination marketing industry worldwide. In collaboration with Miles Partnership, she led the rebranding of the association in 2017, and was recognized by ASAE with a 2018 Gold Circle Award in the Rebranding Campaign category. In her new role as Chief Operations Officer, Melissa will lead the team in consolidating the organization’s core revenue areas. The following departments will report directly to Melissa:
Anyone who knows Melissa or has worked with her knows about her attention to detail, strong leadership skills and her mentorship for those around her. We are confident she will lead our team to continued success. We are also excited to announce that Andreas Weissenborn has been promoted to Senior Director of Research and Advocacy. Andreas has played a critical role on our advocacy and research team since joining us and has truly elevated the association’s role in those areas. Matt Ozuna has moved over to the advocacy team as the Advocacy and Data Manager and will be working directly under Andreas to continue to develop our research and advocacy efforts. Quineesa Smith has joined our team as the Membership Engagement Account Manager. Most recently, Quineesa held the role of Membership Manager at the International Dairy Foods Association where she individually brought in a 20 percent increase in new member revenues. Additionally, she’s held membership roles with The Myositis Association and Child Life Council. We know she will be an important and vital part of our Membership Engagement team, and we are thrilled to have her join us. And last but certainly not least, I want to let you know that Colleen Phalen will be leaving Destinations International to pursue another opportunity. It goes without saying that Colleen has had a tremendous impact on Destinations International and we are a better organization because of her time with us. Colleen's last day with us is today, October 5. I know you will all join me in thanking Colleen for her wonderful and dedicated service to us. Finally, we are pleased to announce that Barbra Gustis will be joining us as the EVP of Educational Development and Meetings. In her role, Barbra will manage the overall strategic and operational responsibilities for meetings, professional development and certificate/credential programs at Destinations International. Her first day will be November 26, 2018 and we look forward to working with her. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy your weekend. |
