2018 Compensation & Benefits Study Released

With the Release of the 2018 Compensation and Benefits Platform, I wanted to share three tips I often see members overlook when utilizing this dynamic platform solution. The technology behind the platform is provided via the Destinations International Foundation and is a complimentary member benefit for all those who supplied their data during our most recent collection period.

Even though these are three important items I focused on, the platform has many more and great capabilities worth exploring for your needed data points. I would highly recommend learning more by checking out our recent webinar on the platform, or also our handy quick guide on getting started.

Make sure to try out the filters

Starting off right with the results means starting off by using the filters the platform offers.

Each of the dynamic reports reaggregates itself based upon the filters you select, so it's important to try and match a competitive segment based upon similar variables. Changes to operating budget, region, and FTE’s should all be considered.

Pull out the specifics

I understand many are not as comfortable with large multitabed 100 rowed excel worksheets like me! The platform allows you to cherry pick out individual titles from the ‘Results by Question’ Section. From there you can hop over to any organizational department and within its details tab, select a drop down for a specific title. You’ll notice the same filters mentioned above also remain on this page so the same idea of using the filters applies to the position specific as well. Once selected, you’ll notice the page dynamic refresh based upon the position and filters selected for all the relevant data points.

Show it in graphs

Again, I know not everyone loves Excel worksheets like myself - luckily all the positions and datapoints can be pulled out as printer friendly graphs in both PowerPoint and Adobe PDFs.

Both under ‘Dynamic Reports’ and the ‘Results by Question’ section, you’ll notice icons which you can click to produce graphs on the needed data points.

From the ‘Results by Question’ section, you are able to pull out individual datapoints based upon the position you selected from above. If you were a destination who participated in the collection period, your destination's data will be mapped on the graphs, giving you the needed perspective as it relates to segments you designed!

Again, these are just three things I wanted to point out, but the platform has the ability to be even further customized on your preference. Enjoy and feel free to reach out to us with any additional questions at [email protected] and don’t forget to catch us in Cleveland for our Finance, Operations, and Technology Summit presenting on this very topic.
