By: Caitlyn Blizzard, Destinations International
This week we are excited to welcome Emily Scheiderer to our team at Destinations International as our director of education, sales and services.
- Favorite Destination and why?
London, England. I love everything about the museums, art and culture, the food, the fashion and the people. There is so much history everywhere you go. Something new to learn on every corner.
- In one sentence, what is your job at Destinations International?
I get to support DMO Sales and Servicing teams by focusing on driving education opportunities that will lead to independent and industry success.
- How long have you been with Destinations International?
I’m brand new! I started my exciting Destinations International journey in Jan 2022.
- What was your first job in the tourism industry?
I worked in Marketing at the Westin Indianapolis.
- When you were growing up, what was your dream job?
I wanted to be an attorney…specifically within criminal justice.
- What is your favorite thing about this industry?
I love how the industry thrives on the collaboration of both analytical and social skills. The workforce within the hospitality community is unmatched in their talent.
- What is your bucket list vacation?
Greece. The history, the culture and the scenic beauty all have me enthralled.
- What is your favorite restaurant/meal in the world that you have tried when traveling?
I feel like 50% of the people are going to judge me for this one…but I still have dreams about the fresh anchovies/salad that I had in a small restaurant right off the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool, England. Nothing like fresh seafood!
- What are two truths and a lie?
- I have 30 first cousins.
- I love reading fiction books.
- My husband and I adopted a puppy that we thought was a Pit/Lab mix that turned out to be a Dane/Lab mix who is now a 120lb “lap dog”.
The Lie: I don’t love reading fiction! I’m all about reading to educate.
- I am overly competitive about …
everything. In fact, when I asked my husband what I’m competitive about, his response was “literally never coming in second place.”
