Be Part of What Powers Destinations International: Volunteer for a Committee or Task Force
Bottom Line:

DI couldn’t do what we do without our members and partners. Your leadership, expertise and time are invaluable to our mission and to the success of every destination we serve.

At Destinations International (DI), our strength comes from the passion, expertise and commitment of our members. With more than 30 committees and task forces, there’s truly a place for everyone—no matter your role, experience or tenure in the industry.

Our members and partners represent nearly 800 destination organizations across 39 countries and a community of more than 10,000 professionals working every day to advance our industry. None of this work would be possible without our volunteer leaders, the individuals who give their time, share their knowledge and lend their voices to help us empower destination organizations around the globe.

Serving on a committee or task force is more than a professional opportunity; it’s a chance to make a meaningful impact. It’s the opportunity to collaborate with peers from around the world, share best practices and help shape the future of destination organizations. Whether you’re developing resources, guiding professional development offerings or contributing to advocacy and research, your leadership helps drive our shared mission forward.

Volunteering is also one of the best ways to deepen your engagement with the DI community. It offers a sense of belonging, a space to grow and connections that can last a lifetime. Many of our current board leaders began their volunteer leadership journey through committee service—it’s the perfect way to expand your network and prepare for future leadership roles within the travel and tourism industry.

Additionally, for Certified Destination Management Executives (CDME), active committee service provides two (2) CDME credits per year, recognizing the professional value of your contribution to DI and the broader destination community.

What to Expect as a Committee or Task Force Member

Committee and task force service runs on a 12-month term, from January through December, providing an annual opportunity to engage, collaborate and contribute to the work of DI.

We recognize that committee service is a volunteer commitment, and we appreciate that all members balance this work alongside full-time roles within their organizations. Our goal is to make participation meaningful and flexible, while maintaining shared accountability to one another and to the larger DI community.

Each committee typically meets virtually multiple times throughout the year, with opportunities to connect in person during DI events such as the CEO Summit, Annual Convention or Advocacy Summit. Meeting times and formats are structured to accommodate members across multiple time zones and ensure that everyone can actively participate—whether you join live or contribute through DI’s online member community or other virtual resources.

Committee service is truly a partnership. We simply ask that you bring your enthusiasm, perspective and expertise—and engage in the way that works best for you.

Your Voice Matters

Our committees and task forces reflect the diversity and extensiveness of our membership, featuring disciplines across every facet of destination management—from advocacy and research to sustainability and destination development to sales and marketing, business operations and beyond.

DI couldn’t do what we do without our members and partners. Your leadership, expertise and time are invaluable to our mission and to the success of every destination we serve.

Join us in shaping the future of our global travel and tourism community—volunteer today.
