Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2018) – Destinations International Chair Tammy Blount-Canavan, FCDME and President and CEO of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau and President and CEO Don Welsh today announced that the organization has been recognized by ASAE with a 2018 Gold Circle Award in the Rebranding Campaign category.

The Gold Circle Awards competition is the premier association marketing, membership and communications award that recognizes excellence, innovation, and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership and communications programs. This year’s competition received more than 183 entries across 15 categories, including convention/meeting campaign, member retention campaign, print magazine and video. Entries for the Gold Circle Awards competition are judged consistently in each category based on criteria established by the ASAE Gold Circle Award Committee for excellence in association marketing, membership and communications programs.

“Destinations International’s rebrand went far beyond a sharp new logo and a new name,” said Blount-Canavan. “Our new branding represents a new association; one that is collaborative and forward-thinking and that is constantly striving to ensure our members have the tools and foundation excel.”

“Destinations International’s rebrand was made possible through our partnership with Miles Partnership, the hard work of our Chief Marketing Officer, Melissa Cherry, feedback gathered from stakeholder interviews, paired with an extensive analysis of key operational facets,” said Welsh. “We are proud of what our team accomplished with our rebrand and are thrilled and honored to be recognized by ASAE with a Gold Circle Award.”

“Partnering with the new leadership at Destinations International was an opportunity for our agency to be an integral part of our evolving industry,” said Jay Salyers, Senior Vice President of Miles Partnership. “It was exciting to help executives at destinations work together to establish a new direction for our industry association. The new brand for Destinations International represents the pillars the organization and our industry is focused on moving forward.”

“This award recognizes associations who are effectively including elements of creativity, design, technology and metrics,” said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE. “Marketing, membership and communications plays an important role for associations – it’s the primary means for sharing information with members and staff as well as branding the organization to the global community. Congratulations!”
