Keynote Presentation:  From Distracted to Productive:  Finding Your Focus in Today's Increasingly Interrupted World
Randy Dean, MBA

E-mail, texts, phone calls, project transitions, office clutter, social and other media, even family and friends. These common distractions make it almost impossible to get anything done. It seems like there is always SOMETHING getting in the way of what you really need to do. With some forethought, effective strategies, and discipline, it is possible to find your focus even in this hyper-distracted world.

We'll have a fun time sharing "game plan" ideas for getting and keeping your distractions under control and finding that critical "focused productivity" time every day, leading to both enhanced performance and clarity of mind and purpose.

Becoming a Community Shared Value
Details +
Speaker: Andreas Weissenborn, Senior Director, Research and Advocacy, Destinations International

Each year a growing number of destination organizations come under government and media scrutiny. The attacks are getting worse, more frequent, and too often, we are our worst enemy. Destination organizations must become one of their community’s shared values in a way that not only explains the value of destination promotion, but connects that value and the organization to the residents of the community.  This must-attend session will clearly articulate the role of a destination organization in a community, provide the starting point for the “Mission” and “About Us” statements, lay out the political argument for public support of destination promotion, and identify the ideas and ideals that form the basis of a community shared value.  This session will also highlight destinations that are “Living the Lexicon,” showing real life examples of how the New Tourism Lexicon was implemented. Attendees will be able to use the New Tourism Lexicon to connect with their stakeholders and communicate the value of their destination organization, as well as become more closely involved with Destinations International as we continue to refine the Lexicon concept.
